ARII has been working non-stop to help flood-affected children and families in the Greater Accra city of Accra and other neighbouring towns following heavy rains, floods and fire that killed over 150 people, many of them are children. More than 30,688 persons were affected, houses were flooded and properties running into several millions of dollars were severely damaged.
The recent floods have also affected the livelihoods of thousands of individuals in one of the country’s most business areas. Over 50 ARII volunteers, experts, Ambassadors and associate staff workers will work directly with the government and emergency response agencies, both at the national and local levels to restore hope to affected victims.
The relief victims will receive material, emotional and psychological supports of varying degrees. Over 50 disadvantaged children who have also lost their parents will also benefit from the ARII (Formerly ARII) Sponsor a Child Project. We would also work to restore resources like schools affected by the floods so that children can get back in track and have the prospects of a fulfilling future.
